Before the Holocaust
Hitler was born in Austria on April 20th, 1889. Growing up, he and his father often disagreed with one another and generally did not see eye to eye. Hitler's father encouraged him to go into business, but Hitler was more interested in a career incorporating fine arts and German nationalism. This nationalism would later prove to be a motive for many of Hitler's decisions and actions. Later on within his life, Hitler's mother allowed him to drop out of school. Hitler then applied to the Academy of Fine Arts, but was rejected twice. As time went on, Hitler adopted antisemitic ideologies and developed a strong hatred for people of Jewish background. This hatred eventually evolved into something greater; The Holocaust.
During the Holocaust
Adolf Hitler was the leader of the National Socialist German Party, the Nazis, from 1933 to 1945. The Nazis were a powerful group of individuals who ruled Germany using totalitarian methods and antisemitic beliefs. Soon after taking control of the Nazis, Hitler became the chancellor of Germany. Hitler then gained complete power over the government and altered it, creating a new fascist government, the Third Reich. In 1939, Germany invaded Poland under Hitler's control, starting World War Two. Hitler's antisemitic beliefs and hatred for any other non-Aryan races resulted in a devastating genocide, known as the Holocaust. Within the Holocaust, non-Aryan races were subjected to persecution, awful treatment, and dreadful living conditions, all of which were ordered by Adolf Hitler. There were nearly 11 million total causalities in the Holocaust, 6 million of which were Jews.
Why Blame Hitler for The Holocaust?
Adolf Hitler, although a smart man, did not make wise or moral decisions. Under his guidance, Germany invaded Poland, ultimately starting World War Two. Hitler convinced millions that Germans were superior to all others. He twisted German nationalism into something evil and disgusting; extreme Social Darwinism. Hitler promoted the persecution of lesser races and antisemitic beliefs, both of which resulted in the ill-treatment of non-Aryan races. It was Hitler's idea to rid the world of the Jews. Under his rule, ghettos, concentration camps, and extermination camps were created. In fact, Hitler promoted a plan, "The Final Solution", that revolved around the sole purpose of exterminating the Jews. Why did Hitler possess so much hatred for particular races? Perhaps it was his extreme nationalism combined with aspects from his rocky childhood. No matter the reason, Hitler did many cruel things within his lifetime, a number of which resulted in the horrible treatment of the Jews and many others. The question remains; Can Hitler be blamed for the Holocaust?
